Biography and Notes
He was baptised at St Mary le Tower, Ipswich, the name Wilkie being taken from his Sponsor / Godfather, Sir David Wilkie RA; and educated for 10 years at Dedham under the Rev Dr Taylor and at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge. He took his BA in1846 and MA in 1849. He was ordained Deacon (Norwich) in 1847 and Priest in 1848. He became Curate at Thelveton, Norfolk and was Rector of Whepstead, 1856-7. When he went to Hollesley in 1857 the Patron of the living was Mary A Waller of The Grove, Hollesley. When he was succeeded in 1884 by Robert Lawrance the Patron was his son, Algernon Waller Cobbold (1855-1930).

"To the Glory of God and in loving memory of Richard Wilkie Waller Cobbold MA for 27 years Rector of this Parish and Caroline Maria Cobbold his wife. This window is erected by their children, Ascension Day 1899"
